Why choose a homebirth midwife?

Maybe you’ve already birthed one of your babies at home or maybe you are exploring home birth for the first time. Either way, I’m here to tenderly guide you on your journey, because that’s what midwives do. Long before birth was brought into the hospital setting, it occurred in the home as a normal part of life, because it is! My job is to earn your trust, honor your hopes, and ensure you are well supported and cared for holistically through your entire birth experience. It’s not only my job though…it’s my joy!

More about my journey as a midwife…

1994

I gave birth to my eldest daughter Maya under the capable care of a Homebirth Midwife. God placed a calling on my life to become a Midwife.

1997

I graduated in 1997 with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. I then began serving as a Labor & Delivery Nurse.

2002

After apprenticing for two and half years with a wonderful Homebirth Midwife in Arkansas, I met all the requirements for licensure, and became a licensed Arkansas Midwife.

2003

I moved to Missouri and worked as a Labor & Delivery Nurse and attended homebirths as well, while my husband completed his college degree.

2008

We moved our family to Peoria, IL where I continued working as a Labor & Delivery Nurse and assisted local homebirth midwives as a birth assistant, once again helping women safely & comfortably birth their babies at home.

Today

In 2015, I earned my Master’s & became a Certified Nurse Midwife. Today, with over 25 years of experience in maternity care, I continue to serve women & families in their homes in a variety of locations across Central, IL as well as at my cozy Normal, IL office space. God has blessed me with a booming practice and a wonderful homebirth community!
